Halloween Hustle 5K 2010

The 5th annual Halloween Hustle 5K crept into Palatine this weekend with lots of creative costumes flooding the streets. This was ASM's first race of the year where it didn't rain so the perfect running weather encouraged a large turnout of runners and spectators. There were around 500 runners with the fastest person finishing with a time of 15:31.85.

The race went by so quickly, but the variety of costumes was really the sight to see at this event. As people crossed the finish line in elaborate costumes, we all questioned how they just ran 3.1 miles all dressed up. The photos will be posted to the website shortly. The two top individual contest winners were a rock n' roll clown and a Lego man. The clown wore a tight, bright green body suit with a crazy wig and tons of face paint. It was an outfit that stood out to everyone especially when he ran across the finish line dancing. The Lego man ran the entire 5K with a huge Lego head piece and claw hands. I don't even know how he could see out of that thing, it was pretty impressive.

The top two group costumes were the Rainbow Brights and the Lego girls. The Rainbow bright costumes are something we've never seen before. They looked just like the Rainbow Bright characters. The Lego girls were all in huge boxes that looked like giant Legos. It was really their Halloween spirit and excitement that made their costumes stand out even more.

The after party at Durty Nellies is where all the awards were passed out and everyone seemed so excited for all the winners. The Halloween Hustle was such a fun way to kick off Halloween weekend.

The Hills & Thrills of the Lake Carroll Triathlon

With the rain, wind and cold, the 2010 Lake Carroll Triathlon was anything but easy. The participants battled both the weather and course elements, but these are triathletes- a little moisture isn't going to stop them. In the end, it left them feeling even more proud that they completed the race.

The athletes arrived at 7:00 a.m. and a few rain drops turned into a complete downpour, drenching everyone. Luckily the goody bags were plastic keeping the all important goodies safe inside- which by the way were stacked goody bags. Some athletes plotted how to get up the now slick hills while others slipped into their wetsuits eager to begin.

When the gun went off everyone dove from the sandy beach into the icy water for the swim. After the swim was the bike ride. One woman said after the race, "The bike was definitely the most challenging. I came up to this hill that looked like it was 45 degrees and I just jumped off my bike and walked it up because there was no way I was even attempting that beast." Her description of the hill as a "beast" was pretty accurate. Most athletes said the bike route was tough because of the hills. One man said even though the hills were rough, the beauty of it was the course was much more challenging because of that; and he loves a challenge.

By the time the run came around, most people seemed to be in high spirits and really finished the race strong. The reward for crossing the finish line was exactly what these triathletes needed- an awesome medal and lots of free food and drinks.

This triathlon was my first experience of seeing any long distance race and I was amazed by the strength and determination of these athletes. It was so inspiring to watch everyone cross the finish line with big fist pumps and even bigger smiles.

Champions Unite!

Some say running for no reason is foolish, while others say it's foolish not to run at all. We at Adrenaline Sports Management know that running is a choice, a lifestyle, and a big part of life that you miss once you stop. How much it is missed differs for everyone, but the sense of completion after a good long run is the same. Whatever the reason you run, it's time to have someone give you something for doing what you love.

On August 21st, Adrenaline Sports Management invites you to the Dick Pond Athletics Champion's Run 10K & 5K at Montrose Harbor. We like to reward runners for doing what they love to do. That's why the first 50 male and first 50 female athletes that cross the finish line of the 10K will receive a free pair of ASICS Gel Strike 2 running shoes. All participants will receive a Dri-fit t-shirt, aluminum water bottle, and all sorts of other free goodies.

Cornhole Classic An Indoor Success

We didn't let the nasty weather keep us from playing our favorite backyard barbeque game on Saturday, July 24th. It was game on for all bag tossers as we moved the Windy City Cornhole Classic indoors on the main floor of the Sears Centre Arena! We got a great turnout and had a great time naming this year's tossing champions!

We're hanging up our running shoes next weekend for Bags, Beer and Awesome Prizes at the Sears Centre Arena. On Saturday, July 24th, Hoffman Estates will attract bags lovers from all over the Midwest for this 4th Annual Tournament! Whether you're looking to play competitively or just interested in chatting with friends, tossing some bean bags, and quenching your thirst in our beer garden, this tournament appeals to everyone!

After warming up your tossing arm, games will kick off at 10:00am and continue on 'til we find the 2010 Champs! No worries for those who don't get the number one title, most everyone will go home with a custom design t-shirt and goody bag. Don't let the beer garden get the best of you...these memories are meant to be remembered!

Race For Young Life

The charitable runners who came out to Palatine last Saturday sure painted the town red, white and blue! The downtown streets were overflowing with support for this well-renowned Christian Ministry and our beloved country. With perfect weather and an excellent turnout, it only seems right to thank Young Life and the man upstairs.

As the gun went off at 8:00am, the dedicated runners began their 5K trek through the scenic route. Race Marshals and spectators helped cheer on the athletes as they crossed the finish line. As they cooled off with fresh water under the July sun, the 100-Yard Kids Dash was underway.

Following in their role model's footsteps, these youngsters put their best foot forward and finished their big race. With the kids' spirits full of pride, there wasn't a gloomy soul in the crowd as they broke through the finish line all smiles.

As everyone was finally cooling down, downtown Palatine was just heating up. Although the sun was blazing, everyone stuck around the join in the festive post-race carnival and parade..

Race For Young Life in Palatine for 10th Year

Something about running through a cozy downtown in support of the Christian ministry, Young Life, appeals to Chicago suburbanites once again, making this 5K race a 10th annual. This Fourth-of-July weekend will be one for the books.

Wear your best Uncle Sam gear strap on your running shoes, and join the hundreds of athletes in running and walking for support of today's youth. With the pressures and hardships our adolescence faces, Young Life sure seems to come in handy in guiding them through their tough teen years. After catching a break, these dedicated runners are invited to join our post-parade and carnival to meet and mingle with other local runners.

Father's Day 5K Right Around The Corner!

Adrenaline Sports Management, COUNTRY Financial, and the athletes of the North Shore are gearing up for Father's Day with the COUNTRY Financial Father's Day 5K, benefiting Fathers Helping Fathers. This inaugural event will take place in Glenview's own Gallery Park on the morning of Saturday, June 19th.

Fathers Helping Fathers is a national non-profit organization dedicated to helping fathers' rights. This group is calling for all fathers, families, and individuals who have been positively influenced by their father figures to gather early morning to celebrate this special day with some athleticism and fun. Registration for the event is available online until next Thursday at www.countryfinancial5k.com.

Running in the Rain: The 2nd Annual Bunny Dash 5k

Not even a soggy, sprinkling spring morning could keep nearly a thousand total runners off the paths of the Deer Grove East Forest Preserve last Saturday when the Bunny Dash 5k came into town for its second running.

They may have been drenched, but with pictures as proof, all the Bunny Dash-ers had an awful great experience chasing times, posing with the Easter Bunny, and cracking open eggs brimming with sweet treats.

Mother Earth got in on the action too with this Go Green event from Adrenaline Sports Management which featured recyclable race bibs, encouraged paperless registration, completely reusable signage, and no plastic water bottles.

2010 March Cornhole Madness

In the midst of the craziest month in sports Adrenaline Sports Management hosted another cutthroat cornhole event pitting the areas top tossers against each other for cash prizes.

At the site of the Winter Cornhole Classic, inside the Pyramid Club in Addison, this event went down March 27 and pulled participants away from Butler's mad march to the Final Four with its own march to the top of the brackets.

Cornhole Winter Classic
Many are familiar with the children’s version of the game, bean bag toss, at carnivals and fairs. Others know it as a Midwestern bar game played by inebriated frat boys. Though this has all been true, cornhole has grown up to become a highly competitive sport. Now it is more about skill and less about size or brawn. It really is fun for a person of any age who happens to have a hankering to toss around a bag of corn.
ASM’s Winter Cornhole Classic took place Saturday, January 23 at the Pyramid Club, in Addison IL. Results are posted on www.wintercornholeclassic.com
“It was one of the most competitive tournaments I have ever seen. All players were at high level and teams needed to be on their A game to advance through the bracket," said Event Director for Adrenaline Sports Management, Bryan Ganek.
ASM has tournaments throughout the year. So if you missed the fun the next one is the Windy City Cornhole Classic scheduled for March 27, 2010.

In conjunction with Whole Foods Market, ASM presents the Second Annual Bunny Dash 5k, April 3, 2010. This is an event that is fun for the whole family! There will be a 100 yard dash egg hunt, a youth 1 mile race, and 5k race.

The race will start at Deer Grove East Forest Preserve in Palatine, IL (near the intersection of W Dundee Rd/Route 68 and N Hicks Rd).
In celebration of Earth Month the Bunny Dash will be a GREEN event! This means:

Athletes are encouraged to register online and use ride share

Bibs are recyclable

Reusable eggs

Less paper products

No plastic water bottles

Reusable signs and banners

Participants will receive a Bunny Dash tee and an eco-friendly tote designed by Sheryl Crow stocked with goodies from Whole Foods.

The 5k is a US Track and Field sanction event and will be timed. Awards will be given to the top three times in all divisions.

Santa Shufle 5K

Chilly Saturday morning temperatures did not deter Chicago runners. Dressed in red hats, beards, and red tee shirts,

to pay homage to jolly St. Nick, participants hit their mark at the inaugural Santa Shuffle 5k in Lincoln Park. Runners were also treated to the surprise announcement that a film crew from “The Rachel Ray Show” was taping the race for airing at a later date. www.rachaelrayshow.com/show/segments/view/santa-shuffle

The Santa Shuffle 5K was the third race in the Get Fit. Go Green. Race Series organized by Adrenaline Sports Management. Adapting an earth-friendly stance meant minimizing waste as much as possible. For example race bibs were recyclable, organic foods were served post race, re-usable signs, banners were utilized. Participants were encouraged to register online and participate in a Ride Share Carpool Program. Continuing the celebratory feel of the event donations were accepted for “Toys for Tots.” Adrenaline Sports Management will also collected used running shoes and race clothing which were donated to charity.
